I need some oil on those old cogs

I'm about to put the finishing touches on my birthday party tomorrow, something I intend to be akin to a Hobbit party (the creature, not the movies) minus the fireworks (because I don't have an old wandering friend with a pointy hat). But getting started is something of a challenge..
