Queen Victoria Statue – Foot of Leith Walk – Edinburgh

The statue was unveiled in 1907, 6 years after the death of Queen Victoria by the "Leith Queen Victoria Statue Fund" at a time when Leith was not yet a part of Edinburgh. For more information see http://www.edinburghmuseums.org.uk/Venues/Monuments/Queen-Victoria

I've been wanting to work on a more contrasty black and white photograph. After watching a very useful tutorial by +Mark Wallace I've decided to try it on one of my images and I'm reasonably satisfied with the results, in particular how the pattern on the statue really stands out now and makes it look so much more appealing than its original colour counterpart.
