Much as I would love to see the wolf reintroduced in the Scottish Highlands, I don't see it happening for a while yet.
Fear rules the lives of everything and everyone, and wolves have been the image of that which we don't know and dread for many centuries. This is so ingrained into western culture that that fear is embedded in many languages, not least of all English.
Until such time as we can collectively accept the positive impact that large predators such as the wolf can have on the environment, we will continue to let fear cloud our judgment.
