Review of Marvel’s agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode 2×02 – Heavy Is The Head

While it’s still fresh in my mind here’s a few of my own thoughts about episode 2×02 Heavy Is The Head

So this is the episode we got a video of a few weeks ago that some guy took from the upper floor of a building where you could see Brian Patrick Wade with blue paint on his arm, which we now know was used for special effects not because he was playing a Kree…

Overall the episode was enjoyable but it felt a bit disjointed. I know they’re trying to cover several plot points, between Hydra, and Skye’s father and recruiting new agents but it felt like they were doing too much too quickly.

Still, I suppose so much has changed it’s a case of adapting to some new way of things. The bits I noted were
– No Ward in this episode, not a surprise but given that he’s still supposed to be part of the main cast you’d have thought they’d fit him in somehow.
– Mack taking Fitz under his wing and trying to see past his injury to treat him as a part of the team. I don’t know if Fitz was aware he is hallucinating Simmons, but if he wasn’t he is now. Maybe that’s a good thing, maybe there’s more to it than hallucinations
– Hartley seems to be gone. If she is it seems a shame to have an actress like Lucy Lawless than fans were so excited to see on the show only to have her die in the first episode. Maybe the obelisk did something to her that will bring her back to life somehow, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if it turned out this way.
– Skye’s father has less blood on his hands. And also I’m quite curious to figure out the relationship between him and Raina. We know Raina has this fascination for “gifted” people but we haven’t really figured out why. If she works for Skye’s father (who Ward knows about by the way), what organisation are they part of? How does she get hold of ultra rare elements?
– Coulson seem to be going through fits of drawing in cycles. If 18 days was “overdue” then are we talking cycles of 17 days? If it means something I’m not quite sure what yet. At this point I’m really just waiting for one of the characters to say “Kree” so we can move on. And if Coulson is having these fits of drawing, how come Skye isn’t? Something in her DNA maybe but again if there was something odd about her biology you;d have thought Simmons would have discovered it by now.
– Creel, probably not dead, which means he’ll be back because that’s how it works.
– And yeah I’m glad they got the cloaking working on the bus in the end 🙂

Next week, we get to find out what Simmons has been up to and I seem to recall Blizzard (well Danny Gill at least, not sure he’s Blizzard yet) will be back

So, I was surprised to see no reaction to the episode since it aired, how did you guys like it?
