I’ve been quite tired tonight but with an opportunity to pick up the guitar and do some playing, I figured I’d pop some backing tracks and do some noodling. I did that over three BTs and surprisingly enough, pretty much all 3 had the same pattern. I’d start really well, in a melodic kind of way but then about 3/4 of the through, I’d start missing notes, playing accidentals that sort of thing. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m losing focus or if it’s down to wanting to move on to something else from the melodic pattern I was going for. Next time, I might try adding some structure, though it’s not always simple to do.
I’ve also come across a little gem this afternoon, in the form of a little guitar manifesto put together by Jenn and a few others based on one of Paul Gilbert’s workshops at NGW. I find it quite interesting as his approach to rhythm is one I’ve come across before in various videos. So I thought I’d pick an exercise and work my way through it as part of today’s practice.
More on that later, sleep calls now
