Paul Gilbert has a YouTube channel

As I was checking Paul’s redesigned website, I noticed a link to YouTube that pointed to a channel called “paulvsgozilla” which, to anyone who follows Paul finds it obvious that it would be his (just check the contact section of his website). Now it’s a little empty just now, and the only video on the channel is the one below:

So it’s not quite matching the huge collection of videos you can find of his works taken from DVDs, concerts, interviews and so on which are scattered amongst a multitude of users. But, to my mind it is rather significant, and here’s why.

As far as I know, Paul’s on-line presence has only been through his website and the Racer X forums where he occasionally posts something. There is a MySpace page in his name but it was created by a fan. You can also find a few fan pages on Facebook, but again, nothing that says he’s the driving force behind any of those. Though I can’t recall the exact source, I do remember his once mentioning in a interview that he doesn’t spend much time on-line so he could focus on his music, which makes sense, but it’s always nice to hear something directly from the artist. I do enjoy twitter / Facebook posts from Steve Vai, Joe Satriani or Slash and having Paul do the same would be awesome.

So we’ll see how this develops, I certainly would prefer keep him doing what he does and continue producing great music than anything else really 🙂
